Nicki Wakeford

Encouraged by a game shooting friend, Nicki took up shooting in her early thirties and fell in love with the sport. Coming from a competitive racket sports back ground she found the same hand-eye coordination was very relevant to shooting. Starting with sporting and quickly moving on to game shooting, a few years later she took up Olympic Skeet and in 2009 she qualified for the GB Ladies Olympic Skeet team and has represented GB on numerous occasions since then in World Cups, World Championships and European Championships. She started coaching in 2014 but still shoots Olympic Skeet competitively. She coaches now in sporting, olympic skeet (including assisting British Shooting in their Pathway Programmeas one of their recognised coaches) or in the field (game shooting). She has been accepted to attend the ISSF C Licence Course in March 2018 in Finland and is part of UK Coaching's Women into High Performance programme for female coaches. Nicki is particularly keen to encourage ladies and youngsters into the sport and is both enthusiastic and patient when coaching.
